Extended-School Connection
A Quick Look
The Extended-School Connection is the bridge that links instruction and academic success for students who have been unsuccessful in state assessments. Each student receives an individualized learning plan built on student information, state curriculum documents, assessment results, best-practice learning strategies, and research-based interventions. This learning plan extends classroom instruction beyond the regular school day to enhance student understanding.
A Closer Look
The latest challenge from No Child Left Behind is providing Supplemental Educational Services for students in schools identified for Title I School Improvement. The Ed Group, in its commitment to assist schools and communities in finding solutions for low student performance and failure to meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), offers a student intervention program that can serve as a supplemental educational services program. The Extended-School Connection links students who have not been successful in state assessments with a teacher tutor who utilizes individualized data to focus instruction for each child.
The Extended-School Connection is built upon the proven practices of the Ed Group's School Improvement initiative, SBI, and professional development programming, as well as research on effective schools, student motivation and learning, cognition, content, and assessment. The Extended-School Connection uses the results from this comprehensive research to create a cohesive learning plan for each student. And to follow through on this focused instruction, student work samples are analyzed weekly to provide an ongoing model of building and accelerated learning for each student.
