Academic Review and Analysis
A Quick Look
The Ed Group's Academic Review and Analysis examines each school under a microscope. Through interviews, classroom observations, examination of documents, and analysis of test data, the Ed Group examines school leadership, classroom instructional practices, and curricula impacting recent and future accountability test scores. A candid, detailed report is then submitted to the superintendent with specific findings and recommendations on making the connection between instruction and assessment.
A Closer Look
The Ed Group's Academic Review and Analysis examines five primary sources of information:
- Assessment Data - An in-depth analysis of test reports and the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report provided by the Mississippi Department of Education
- Classroom Instruction - Observations of and interviews with teachers to determine teachers' knowledge of benchmark-curriculum alignment and the extent to which the benchmarks and other tools are effectively utilized to design classroom instruction (The special education instructional program is analyzed in relation to the statewide assessment program and school's accreditation rating.)
- Instructional Program - An examination of supplementary instructional programs to determine their contribution to the regular instructional design
- Infrastructure Program - A review of instructional time, climate, and personnel in support of learning, including an in-depth analysis of the principal's role as the instructional leader
- Leadership - An in-depth analysis of the principal's role as the instructional leader
The final report is organized in the order of the analyses listed above. In each part, the process followed, the conclusions reached, and the recommendations for improvement are provided.
